Amritsar is a city in the north-western part of India. It is the spiritual centre for the Sikh religion and the administrative headquarters of the Amritsar district in the state of Punjab.
It is home to the Harmandir Sahib (referred to as the "Golden Temple" in the western media), the spiritual and cultural center for the Sikh religion. This important Sikh shrine attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal with more than 100,000 visitors on week days alone and is the most popular destination for Non-resident Indians (NRI) in the whole of India. The city also houses the Sikh temporal and political authority, Akal Takht, as well as the Sikh Parliament.
The main commercial activities include tourism, carpets and fabrics, farm produce, handicrafts, service trades, and light engineering. The city is known for its rich cuisine, culture and for the tragic incident of Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919 under British Rule.
Day 01: Arrival Amritsar (Flight / Train: TBA)

Day 02: Amritsar
After breakfast start your day with visit to The Golden Temple; which is an important holy place of the Sikh religion. The Golden Temple is the cradle of Amritsar with the city growing around it nurtured by its divine sanctity. It has four doorways and gorgeously decorated arches, reflecting influences of Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture, with the temple standing in the middle of a tank, exudes tremendous architectural brilliance. Then we move on to the Jallianwala Bagh which tells the sad story of mass killing in April 1919. 2000 Indians were killed and wounded here in the indiscriminate firing by the British. This carnage had nationwide ramifications, shaking and enraging the whole country. Jallianwala Bagh commemorates the martyrs, keeping the tragic episode in its historical context. Later experience the retreat ceremony (change of guards) at Wagha, the Indo-Pakistan border. (B)
Day 03: Departure Amritsar (Flight / Train: TBA)
After breakfast your tour finishes with transfer to the Amritsar airport / station to board your onward flight. (B)
