Day 1: Delhi

On arrival at the airport, meet your Tour Executive who will assist you to transfer to the hotel. Stay three nights in Delhi. (No Meals)


Day 2: Delhi 

After breakfast and tour briefing proceed for city sightseeing tour of Old Delhi. Visit Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat and rickshaw ride in Chandani Chowk. Walk through Krari Baoli, one of the largest wholesale spice market before your first culinary lunch experience at Karim’s. Evening welcome dinner at the Great Kebab Factory offering mouth-watering Awadhi cuisine. (B,L,D)


Day 3: Delhi 

Today enjoy sightseeing tour of New Delhi and visit Qutab Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, drive past India Gate and president house before witnessing most stunning and colourful musical live entertainment show followed by themed dinner at Kingdom of Dreams. (B,D) 


Day 4: Delhi – Agra 

Travel to Agra and visit Agra Fort, build by Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great followed by sunset visit to The Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Enjoy live music with dinner at Paatra offering cuisine variety from Amritsar to Lahore cooked in its unique method. Stay overnight in Agra. (B,D)


 Day 5: Agra - Jaipur 

Journey to Jaipur en-route visiting the old deserted town of Fatehpur Sikri the eerily abandoned capital of the Mughal Empire. Enjoy your lunch at none other than Laxmi Vilas Palace before continuing your travel Jaipur. Afternoon free to relax and evening enjoy traditional village culture with ethnic dining experience. Stay two nights in Jaipur. (B,L,D)


Day 6: Jaipur 

Start your day with visit to Amber Fort and enjoy Elephant ride from foot hill to the top of fortress. Continue your visit to Hawa Mahal often called the Palace of Winds, City Palace and impressive Jantar Mantar. Have natural Heena art work on your hand by a professional artist and conclude your day with Rajasthani Cuisine dinner at Spice Court. (B,D)


Day 7: Jaipur – Mumbai 

After leisurely breakfast transfer to board flight to Mumbai. Afternoon free to relax and evening enjoy dinner at Kebabs & Kurries at ITC Grand offering great selections of food from the kitchen of Lucknow Nawabs to Nizam of Hyderabad. Stay two nights in Mumbai. (B,D)


Day 8: Mumbai 

Start your sightseeing tour with visit to Gateway of India and board ferry to Elephanta Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Evening with enjoying local cuisine dinner at famous Diva Maharashtracha and if lucky you may see famous Bollywood star also dining in this restaurant. (B,D)


Day 9: Mumbai - Cochin 

After breakfast transfer to board flight to Cochin a spice trading center since 14th century.  Afternoon free to explore this famous and historical town and take a walk in fort Cochin. Evening witness Kathakali dance show at local theatre before enjoying your sea food dinner at The Rice Boat at Vivanta by Taj offering authentic Kettuvallam ambiance as well as delicious Malabar cuisine. Stay two nights in Cochin. (B,D)


Day 10: Cochin 

Enjoy sightseeing tour of the city which was entry point for European, Portuguese, Dutch and the British ruled here until the 19th century. Visit the Jewish Synagogue built in 1568, St. Francis Church built by the Portuguese in 1510 and Mattancherry Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555. Evening free to relax and for a change enjoy multi-cuisine dinner at the hotel. (B,D)


Day 11: Private Kerala Houseboat 

Transfer to board your comfortably furnished Private and Traditional Houseboat at Alleppey. Relax and cruise through a splendid waterway of canals, lakes and coves. As you drift along, it is amazing to observe how life is lived on the water. People sail, fish, swim, wash their laundry and bathe themselves here. Your traditional homely cooked lunch, dinner and breakfast will be serve on board by your private crew which you enjoy cruising and overnight on board. (B,L,D)


Day 12: Cochin Departure 

Disembark your houseboat after breakfast and tour finish with direct transfer to the airport where you board your flight for onward journey.

International Flights

The tour packages are usually “Land Only” and do not include international flights.  We therefore recommend that you contact us or your travel agent to book your flights well in advance of travel, when you can generally gain access to specials and discounted airfares. This will ensure you can travel on the days that suit you and your tour.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our journeys. Speak to us or your travel agent about comprehensive insurance to cover your travel arrangements. This must critically cover medical expenses in case of an emergency.  Note that travel insurance automatically provided with credit cards generally does not provide adequate cover. Its your responsibility to ensure that you have appropriate and comprehensive travel insurance.

Medical Information

Our elderly travellers who are aged 70 years or more, or with a per-existing condition that affects their fitness to travel or any medical dietary requirement, must be advised at the time of booking. We recommend all travellers should visit their Doctor for these aforementioned purposes and/or to confirm that they are physically able to undertake the day-to-day requirements of the tour.

Type of Accommodation

As there is so much to see and do in India during the day therefore everyone deserves a good night sleep. We choose quality accommodation according to the category you are travelling in, based on providing a place of rest that offers not only comfort but also an authentic experience rather than staying in a hotel that could by anywhere in the world. Every hotel might be different according to location, amenities and services. While selecting hotel we consider great location, private bathroom facilities and air-conditioning to name few.

Comfort: 3 star hotels offering basic and clean private facilities.  

Deluxe: 4 Star hotels, Palaces and Heritage properties offering above average to very good facilities.

Luxury: 5 star hotels, Palace and Heritage properties offering full range of facilities and exceptional services with unique feature.

Note:

The cities which do not have more choice of hotels, the best suitable category of hotel is provided.

It is also possible to take a combination of comfort, deluxe and luxury accommodation in one itinerary.

Nepal being adventure destination, choices of accommodation are limited hence basic 3* or best available hotel in the itinerary except at some location where 4* and 5* hotel options are offered.

In Bhutan itinerary basis 3* hotel accommodation is used unless requested.

Selecting Your Holiday Type

Most of our journeys are suited to those with normal fitness and mobility levels. To assist you in choosing a journey best for you we have graded our tours;

Easy Paced: These programs are set at a comfortable pace. Walking and climbing of stairs involved is generally in and around major tourist attractions though you may require walking from road till boat jetty while embarking or disembarking boats.

Moderate: These tours are not strenuous but you will require good amount of fitness as they may include days with long periods of walking or soft trekking, climbing of stairs, embarking and disembarking boats and where longer distances may be travelled by uneven roads.

Adventurous: These refer to programs where your physical fitness needs to be on highest level. Trekking, cycling, climbing, walking and more adventurous activities may be included.

Travelling In India

The key to travelling in India is patience! Distances can sometimes be vast, roads are often congested and rustic and time is not necessarily of the essence.  With many different options of travel, each will bring with it a different perspective of this fascination country.

India has one of the largest rail networks in the world with over 60,000 kms of tract and 7,000 stations.  Travelling by train in India can be an experience in itself and a wonderful way to get in touch with the locals.

Passport & Visas

India: Visa is required for all foreign nationals. 

Apply online for a Pre-Approval at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html .The online application should be submitted a minimum of 4 days in advance and a maximum of 30days of the proposed date of travel. TVOA links may also be found in websites of Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Bureau of Immigration, Incredible India etc.

As of 27 Nov 2014 nationals and passport holder of 34 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Finland, Luxem Bourg, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar to name a few,  can avail a Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) facility upon disembarking at international airports Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi and Trivandrum only. You will require to pay fees along with require documentation and is subject to verification and satisfaction of the Immigration. Please contact High Commission of India for updated information.

Sri Lanka: Every tourist visiting Sri Lanka required visa prior to departure. Visa must be obtained atleast 01 months prior to arrival in Sri Lanka by visiting www.eta.gov.lk The Tourist visa is valid for stay within 30 days. Passport must be valid for at least six months before you commence travel to Sri Lanka. Fee will apply.

Nepal: Visa is required for all foreign nationalities and the best way to apply for visa is from the Royal Nepalese diplomatic missions in your home country. Tourist Visa also can be obtained on arrival. Passport must be valid for at least six months before you commence travel in Nepal. Fee will apply.

Bhutan: All foreign nationals require visa for Bhutan.

Visa can be arranged by TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS. To process this we require clear readable colour copy of passport (page containing passport no and face picture in JPEG or PDF format) and current colour passport photograph and at least 30 days prior to date of entry into Bhutan. Remaining validity of passport should be at least 6 months from the date of exit from Bhutan.

Tourism Council of Bhutan issues visa clearance letter closer to travelling date which we email or fax you or your local travel agent. Travellers are required to produce aforesaid visa clearance copy at the time of check-in for their flights while those entering Bhutan by surface via Phuentsholing or Samdrup Jonkhar, they are required to produce this Visa Clearance letter at the Immigration counter. Actual visa is stamped at passport on arrival in Bhutan.

Visa only service is not offered in Bhutan, you would have to book a service tour package from TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS that includes accommodation, guided tours, transfers etc

Myanmar: Visa is required for all nationalities.

Visa can be arranged by TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS. To process this we require international flight details, clear readable colour copy of passport (page containing passport no and face picture in JPEG or PDF format) and current colour passport photograph and at least 30 days prior to date of entry into Myanmar. Remaining validity of passport should be at least 6 months from the date of exit from Myanmar.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi 

Arrive at Delhi International Airport.  Please clear immigration and visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS Executive will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer to the hotel. Afternoon relax at the hotel. Stay three nights in Delhi. (No Meals)


Day 02: Delhi

After a brief introduction of the city by the tour Manager we visit Old City of ‘Shahjahanabad, the vibrant, bustling old quarter of the city which was built over a period of 10 years by Emperor Shahjahan. Drive past The Red Fort, which was once the palace of Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan’s new capital, Shahjahanabad’s- the seventh city in the Delhi site of lying at the city’s northern end along the right bank of the Yamuna. On this tour will  be  by walk and by rickshaw, you will not only see Old Delhi’s famous food, but also daily life in this colourful and chaotic part of the city. The tour is great fun for those interested in photography and street life. Take cycle rickshaws and visit the famous Khari Baoli spice market. This is Asia’s largest wholesale market selling all kinds of spices and nuts; it is also a wholesale market for food products like rice and tea. Once can see on this side of the street  the traders selling spices like Cumin, aniseed, Indian cinnamon, cardamom and anything else you could desire. From Khari Baoli, on return take a rickshaw back to Chandni Chowk .Walk through Chandni Chowk area, to visit Paranthe Wali Galli (Lane of Parathas) and a famous jalebi stall. The tour of Old Delhi ends here, at Chandni Chowk. Form here we take between the mosque and Chandni Chowk is a narrow shop-lined street along which you will be transported by cycle rickshaws on your most photogenic journey of the tour. Chandni Chowk - Shahjahanabad’s Main Street in 1650, facing the majestic Red Fort. It originally had a central canal running down its full length, and when moonlight reflected off the water it got the name Chandni Chowk or ‘Avenue of Moonlight’. The canals have long since gone and it is now a chaotically bustling area, typical of real India, containing a mix of stalls, shops, food outlets and temples. The locals go shopping here like nowhere else.  

Stop for lunch at Old Delhi's most enduring restaurant Karim's. Next visit Jama Masjid – literally meaning the Friday Mosque and India's largest and best-known mosque and return to hotel.

Evening welcome dinner at the Great Kebab Factory offering mouth-watering Awadhi cuisine. (B,L,D)


Day 03: Delhi

Morning visit the New Delhi. Drive through Lutyens’ New Delhi, starting with Connaught Place, Delhi’s historic British era marketplace and the surrounding commercial buildings. This drive will include photo opportunities at some of the following attractions - the exterior of the massive and awe-inspiring Rashtrapati Bhawan (known as Viceroy’s House during the British era), as well as Delhi’s landmark structure India Gate. After exploring Lutyens’ New Delhi you will be driven to visit the magnificent tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun.

Delhi has such an abundance of amazing monuments that this Tomb Complex (1562 A.D.) does not quite get the acclaim that it deserves. It is one of Delhi’s three UNESCO World Heritage Site and its unique architecture and the elaborate gardens that surround it will captivate you. After exploring the tomb you will be driven to visit the awe-inspiring Qutab Minar (1193 A.D.). This 239-foot tall medieval tower is a symbol of victory and a beautiful example of Persian architecture from that period. There is a winding stairway inside the tower that goes up all the way to the balcony at the very top of the tower - unfortunately the staircase is no longer accessible to visitors. The Qutab Minar and its Monuments are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Within the Qutab complex, amidst the ruins of the Quwat-ul-Islam Mosque, stands one of the legendary Ashoka Pillars. This large iron pillar has withstood the ravages of Delhi’s weather (and recent pollution) and has not rusted in more than 1500 years. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 04: Delhi – Agra (Approx Driving Time: 4 hrs)

After breakfast travel to Agra, the city that flourished under the patronage of Mughals who ruled India for more than 300 years and attracted artisans from many countries to built amazing monuments including the one and only Taj Mahal. Here layers of history are peeled away to reveal an amazing tapestry of life, wars great architectural magnificence and above all a testimony of the undying love of a king for his queen.

Afternoon visit Itima-ud-Daulah and Agra Fort; built by Emperor Akbar, its construction commenced in 1565 and was completed in 1571. It is built with red sandstone and is a mixture of the Islamic and Hindu styles of architecture. Later visit the sunset view of taj mahal. Enjoy live music with dinner at Paatra offering cuisine from Amritsar to lahore. Stay overnight at Agra. (B,D)


Day 05: Agra – Jaipur (Approx Driving Time: 5 hrs)

After breakfast check out of the hotel and travel to Jaipur en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stop at Laxmi Vilas palace Bharatpur for Lunch before traveling to Jaipur. Jaipur the first planned city of India is a treasure-trove of culture, art and history, famous for its colour, life style and Rajasthani cuisine. It is a city exuding royal heritage and extravagant richness. Upon arrival check in at the Hotel.

Afternoon free to relax. In the evening enjoy village culture with an ethnic dining experience. Stay two nights in Jaipur. (B,L,D)


Day 06: Jaipur

After breakfast travel towards Amber Fort; add a magical touch to the visit by riding on the back of an elephant from the foot of the hill up to the gates of the fortress in the manner of former kings and queens. Within the complex, Ganesh Pol, an imposing gateway painted with images of the elephant-headed god, Ganesh takes pride of the place. Also a part of the complex is the Diwan-I-Aam (Hall of the Public audience) with its spectacular display of pillars. The typical merging of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles is captured in the Sukh Nivas and Jas Mandir apartments, and the Charbagh garden with its perfectly proportioned landscaping. Beyond the rampants, the old city, once the abode of the aristocracy, has a wonderfully medieval flavour, though it has few buildings of majestic proportion that are still extant.

Afternoon Visit the Maharaja's City Palace, the home of the erstwhile royal family, the Observatory, make a photo stop at Hawa Mahal also known as Wind Palace built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and drive past the old part of Jaipur city. This fascinating city with its romantic charm takes you to an epoch of royalty and tradition and has plenty of forts and monuments that remind you of the ancient glamour, glory and charm of Rajput rulers.

During the sightseeing the girls can get themselves painted with the naturally coloured Henna (Mehndi) in the traditional floral motifs. The natural form of the present day Tattoo, Henna has a special significance for Indian Women. Painting of palms is considered auspicious by Indian women on special occasions like marriage, fasts and festivals. About three days before a woman gets married, it is customary for her to invite all her female family members to her home for a mehndi ceremony. Day 07: Jaipur – Mumbai 

After leisurely breakfast transfer to board flight to Mumbai. Afternoon free to relax and evening enjoy dinner at Kebabs & Kurries at ITC Grand offering great selections of food from the kitchen of Lucknow Nawabs to Nizam of Hyderabad. Stay two nights in Mumbai. (B,D)


 

Day 08: Mumbai

After breakfast enjoy the city tour of Mumbai visiting Gateway of India, Mumbai’s most famous monument and the starting point for most tourists interested in exploring the city. It was built as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. The structure is complete with its four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone. The other famous sites we will visit are- the Dhobi Ghat, Prince of Wales Museum. This museum stands not too far away from the Gateway of India. It has a priceless collection of art, sculpture, china clay work and other antics. Carefully preserved, this mid-Victorian Gothic style building was built in 1904 with beautiful gardens surroundings. 

Afternoon we will do the excursion trip to Elephanta caves (Closed on Mondays). Hewn out of solid rock, the Elephanta Caves date back to 600 AD and is a cave complex housing a collection of shrines, courtyards, inner cells, grand halls and porticos arranged in the splendid symmetry of Indian rock-cut architecture and filled with exquisite stone sculptures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. It is situated on Gharapuri Island in Mumbai's harbour, about an hour's boat ride from the Gateway of India.

Evening enjoy the local cuisine dinner at the famouse Diva Maharashtracha and if luckey you may see famouse Bollywood stars also dining in the restaurant. (B,D)


Day 9: Mumbai - Cochin 

After breakfast transfer to board flight to Cochin a spice trading centre since 14th century.  Afternoon free to explore this famous and historical town and take a walk in fort Cochin. Evening witness Kathakali dance show at local theatre before enjoying your sea food dinner at The Rice Boat at Vivanta by Taj offering authentic Kettuvallam ambiance as well as delicious Malabar cuisine. Stay two nights in Cochin. (B,D)


Day 10: Cochin

Enjoy sightseeing tour of the city which was entry point for European, Portuguese, Dutch and the British ruled here until the 19th century. Visit the Jewish Synagogue built in 1568, St. Francis Church built by the Portuguese in 1510 and Mattancherry Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555. Evening free to relax and for a change enjoy multi cuisine dinner at the hotel. (B,D)


Day 11: Private Kerala Houseboat 

Transfer to board your comfortably furnished Private and Traditional Houseboat at Alleppey. Relax and cruise through a splendid waterway of canals, lakes and coves. As you drift along, it is amazing to observe how life is lived on the water. People sail, fish, swim, wash their laundry and bathe themselves here. Your traditional homely cooked lunch, dinner and breakfast will be serve on board by your private crew which you enjoy cruising and overnight on board. (B,L,D)


Day 12: Cochin Departure 

Disembark your houseboat after breakfast and tour finish with direct transfer to the airport where you board your flight for onward journey. (B)
