After breakfast transfer to board flight to Varanasi and on arrival transfer the hotel. Afternoon enjoy visit to Silk weaving village and conclude your day with witnessing Grand Ganges ceremony. Stay two nights at Varanasi. (B,D)
Day 04: Varanasi
Start your day with a sunrise boat ride on river Ganges and witness the people with Hindu faith, ritually bathing in the sacred river, for it is believed as per Hindu mythology that bathing in the holy river of Ganga causes the remission of sins and facilitates the attainment of nirvana. Hindus also believe that one who is graced to die on the land of Varanasi would attain salvation and freedom from the cycle of birth and re-birth. Return to hotel for breakfast followed by an excursion to Sarnath where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon at the deer park after his enlightenment. Sarnath is one of the four holy Buddhist sites sanctioned by the Buddha himself for pilgrimage. Sarnath is one of the richest in Buddhist antiquities ranging in date from the times of Ashoka down to the 12th century A.D. Ashoka built here the Dharmarajika Stupa and near it erected a pillar surmounted by the magnificent capital of four adorned Lions, which today forms the national emblem of India. Conclude your day with city tour of this religious capital of Hinduism and witness grand prayer ceremony at the temple. Stay overnight in Varanasi. (B,D)
Day 05: Varanasi - Khajuraho (By Air)
After leisurely breakfast you get a transfer to the airport to board your flight to Khajuraho. Arrive at this small modest village with no more than 3000 residents surrounded by forestland, but thousand years ago it was a large city of the Chandellas, medieval Rajput kings who ruled over Central India. Evening is free to take a stroll on the narrow streets of this village and witness the life style of the locals. Optionally enjoy the fascinating Son-et-Lumiere spectacle that evokes the life and times of the great Chandella Kings and traces the story of the unique Khajuraho temples from the 10th Century to the present day. Stay overnight in Khajuraho. (B,D)
Day 06: Khajuraho
After breakfast explore the Chandella temples which are an excellent example of Indo-Aryan architecture. The remoteness and isolation of Khajuraho have ensured the survival of these great treasures built during the 10th century. Famed for their erotic sculptures, the temples in fact depict an exquisite detail of the everyday life of people during that era. Now only 22 out of the original of 85 temples remain, which are the great shrines of love and are abound in timeless quality, earning for them the status of world heritage monuments. Architecturally they are unique. While each temple has a distinct plan and design, several features are common to all. They are all built on high platforms, several meters off the ground. The stone used throughout is either granite or a combination of light sandstone and granite. Each of these temples has an entrance hall or mandapa, and a sanctum sanctorum or garbha griha. The roofs of these various sections have a distinct form. The porch and hall have pyramidal roofs made of several horizontal layers. The inner sanctum's roof is a conical tower - a colossal pile of stone (often 30m high) made of an arrangement of miniature towers called Shikharas. The Khajuraho temples represent a happy and almost unique coincidence of religious emotion, abundant patronage, artistic genius, and aesthetic sensibility. Stay overnight in Khajuraho. (B,D)
Day 07: Khajuraho – Agra
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before travelling to Jhansi railway station to board the train to Agra. On arrival our executive will meet you and would provide you with a transfer to your designated hotel for an overnight stay. (B,D)
Day 08: Agra
Start your day with a sunrise visit to the famous Taj Mahal, a monument of love created by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal; it is the most perfect marble built architectural monument in the world. It lies on the banks of the river Yamuna and is constructed completely of white Makrana marble embedded with several precious gems like jade, crystal, turquoise, lapis lazuli, sapphire, coral and diamonds. It is symbolic of the purest kind of love that transcends all differences and keeps people together. The breathtakingly beautiful landscape around the Taj Mahal adds to the magic of Mughal architecture. Later visit Agra Fort; built by Emperor Akbar, its construction commenced in 1565 and was completed in 1571. It is built with red sandstone and is a mixture of the Islamic and Hindu styles of architecture. Spend remaining of the day exploring this world renowned town, the zenith of art and romance that lives mainly in the past. Agra is one of the most important centres for handicrafts, made of marble and soft stone inlay work. Stay overnight in Agra. (B,D)
Day 09: Agra – Jaipur (Driving Time: Approx 6 hours)
After breakfast we then travel to Jaipur, en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted splendid capital of Emperor Akbar built in the 16th Century. The construction of the complex was started in 1571 but this city was abandoned in 1884 due to scarcity of water. The entire complex is built with red sandstone and marble which is also used in the more elegant structures inside the complex. The architecture is an interesting mix of Hindu and Jain traditions interspersed with Islamic features. The architectural grandeur of this deserted city cannot be described in words and one can only experience the aura of its magnificent edifices by seeing them. Later continue your travel and enjoy remaining of the day at leisure with an overnight stay in Jaipur. (B,D)
Day 10: Jaipur
Following breakfast proceed for a guided sightseeing tour of the “Pink city”. With its origin buried deep into the pages of history, Jaipur still excludes a magical old world charm; an aroma of chivalry and romance, with tell-tale signs of the glorious past and regal majesty of the city lie strewn across the gay abandon. Visit the Amber Fort, a wonderful example of Rajput architecture stunningly situated on a hill-side and overlooking a lake which reflects its terraces and ramparts. The climb to the Fort on the back of an Elephants makes you feel a king and Queen alike. The outside is very imposing and rugged looking whereas the inside is a comforting and warm which is influenced by both Hindu and Muslim style of ornamentation. The fort in itself is a beautiful sight to behold but as one looks on the fort with its clear reflection on the Maota Lake in the front; one cannot help but wonder if it is a dream or a beautiful illusion. Jantar Mantar the largest and best preserved 18th Century stone observatory and its aim was to verify astronomical observations and to generate interest among the public about astronomy, The City Palace which is still home of the former royalty housing an extensive collection of art, carpets and old weapons, it is designed with the combination of the Rajasthani and Mughal architecture and make a photo stop at Hawa Mahal, an example of the architectural magnificence prevalent in that period and is a signature building of Jaipur. Remaining day is free to explore colourful bazaar and stay overnight in Jaipur. (B,D)
Day 11: Jaipur – Neemrana (Driving Time: Approx 3 hours)
Enjoy your leisurely breakfast followed by a transfer to Neemrana for an overnight stay. Be amazed by the scenery of rural Rajasthan and stay two nights at the former fort built in 1464 AD and now a luxury hotel named Neemarana Fort & Palace. (B,D)
Day 12: Neemrana
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Neemrana Fort Palace, the Palace is among India's oldest heritage resorts. Each room is decorated in individual style with period furniture, private open terraces and courtyards. The 15th century step-well functions as a swimming pool and is often referred to as the pool-on-the plateau. Enjoy luxury of the hotel or explore this historical and picturesque town as the day is kept free for your own activities. This magnificent town is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan and commands scenic vistas of its rugged surroundings. Stay overnight in Neemrana. (B,D)
Day 13: Neemrana - Delhi airport (Driving Time: Approx 2 hours 30 mins)
After a leisurely breakfast we continue our journey to Delhi airport. Here your tour officially culminates and you board your flight to your destination. (B)
