Mumbai is the centre of the Bollywood film industry and Rajasthan is one of India’s prime tourist destinations. Nobody leaves here without priceless memories, a bundle of souvenirs and an address book full of friends. This diverse state is the home of Rajputs, a group of warrior clans who controlled this part of India for a thousand years, adhering to a code of chivalary and honour similar to that of the medieval European Knights.

Day 01: Arrive Mumbai

Meet and assistance on arrival by TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS executive holding ply card with assisted transfer to your designated hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure for you and stay overnight in Mumbai.

Day 02: Mumbai

After breakfast enjoy the city tour of Mumbai visiting Gateway of India, Mumbai’s most famous monument and the starting point for most tourists interested in exploring the city. It was built as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. The structure is complete with its four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone. The other famous sites we will visit are- the Dhobi Ghat, Prince of Wales Museum. This museum stands not too far away from the Gateway of India. It has a priceless collection of art, sculpture, china clay work and other antics. Carefully preserved, this mid-Victorian Gothic style building was built in 1904 with beautiful gardens surroundings. End your day with a walk along the bustling Chowpatty Beach. Stay overnight in Mumbai. (B,D)

Day 03: Mumbai - Udaipur

After breakfast get a transfer to the airport to board your flight to Udaipur. Udaipur, once known as Mewar, is the land that produced a galaxy of patriots and heroes in quick succession, people who etched the name of Rajasthan in every corner of the world. Its history has been a continuous struggle for freedom of religion, throughout the land against other Rajput groups as well as the overbearing Mughals and Muslims of bygone eras. Here, adorning the banks of Lake Pichola is the historic City Palace, which captures all the romance and splendour of the royal era. On arrival check into your hotel with rest of the afternoon free to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities or take a walk on the banks of Lake Pichola or numerous shops that dot the narrow windings streets of Udaipur. From the lake you admire the wonderful view of the City Palace stretching along the east bank, while the south bank has pleasant gardens running down towards the waterside. Stay overnight in Udaipur. (B,D)

Day 04: Udaipur

After breakfast proceed for sightseeing of the famous “white” city of Udaipur which stands on the banks of the Lake Pichola, overlooking the aquamarine expanses of the Lake, on which stands the splendid City Palace – a marvel in granite and marble. Proceed for guided sightseeing tour and visit City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon-Ki-Bari. Later take an excursion to Eklingji, famous for its intricately carved Jain temples. Eklingji (Shiva) whose temple is located here is said to be the guardian deity of Mewar. This awe-inspiring exquisite temple precinct is dotted with 108 shrines, concomitant with the number of beads in the Rudraksha necklace used for meditation in Hinduism. The walls of the temple also act as an information bank on the history of Mewar. They have an inscription of a hundred couplets, engraved by Rana Raimal giving an insight into the history of the region as well as of the temple in Udaipur. Stay overnight in Udaipur. (B,D)

Day 05: Udaipur

Morning after breakfast proceed for excursion to Eklingji and Nagda. Housing a manifestation of Shiva, the god who guards the fortunes of the rulers of Mewar, Eklingji is a lovely marble complex made up of 108 temples, the first of which was built in A.D. 734 by Bappa Rawal, legendary founder of the Sisodia clan, who ruled the Mewar kingdom for hundreds of years. The entire complex, most of it rebuilt in the 15th century, has a wonderfully uplifting atmosphere, particularly during prayer times , and never more so than on the Monday evenings when the Maharana of Udaipur is in town and comes to pay his respects here, walking among his subjects as a mere mortal despite theattendant bowing and scraping. The four-faced black lingam (phallic symbol)apparently marks the spot where Bappa Rawal (that's him riding the peacock)was given the title Darwan ("servant") of Eklingji by his guru; outside, facing Shiva, is Nandi, Shiva's vehicle. Wander around the temple complexand you'll find a number of carvings from the Kama Sutra; your explorations won't exceed 30 minutes. Deserted Nagda, which lies 2km (1 1/4 miles) north,is a far cry from this vibrant place of worship. All that survives of the site of the ancient capital of Mewar, which dates back to A.D. 626, are the ruins of the Saas Bahu, a 10th-century Vaishnavite twin temple (Saas meaning"mother-in-law" and Bahu "daughter-in-law") and the remains of Adbhutji Temple. Regrettably, the temples have been vandalized over the years and look much the worse for wear - unless you're of the archaeological bent, skip them if you're pushed for time. Later return back to Udaipur. (B,D)

Day 06: Udaipur - Castle Bijaipur

Travel to Bijaipur, on arrival check in at the heritage hotel Castle Bijaipur, this 16th century castle set in the serene Vindhyanchal ranges was built by Rao Shakti Singhji the younger brother of the great warrior Maharana Pratap. This fort echoes the sounds of many fierce battles of historic importance fought against Mughals and Marathas. A wildlife sanctuary adjacent to the castle has leopard, Chinkara, spotted and four-horned deer, crocodile and wild boar as well as a variety of birds. Jeep and camel safaris, trekking and camping, visits to nearby Pangarh fort and boating and fishing in its lotus lake, and local tribal folk songs in the evenings are other amusement activities arranged here. Later this afternoon enjoy the Horse Safari around the village providing the opportunity to see the locals in their routine village life. Stay for two nights in Bijaipur. (B,D)

Day 07: Castle Bijaipur

Morning  enjoy guided sightseeing tour of the Chittorgarh Fort, which stands 180 metres high with each stone narrating its own story. The fort is believed to have been built by the Maurya rules in 7th century AD. During the third attack on Chittorgarh by Mughal Emperor Akbar, the fort was razed to the ground and was never inhabited after that. The chhatris within are impressive reminders of Rajput heroism and a treasure trove of history, the fort offers and insight into the life of the Great Rajput rulers, who laid down their lives fighting a superior enemy instead of leading a life of submission under them.

Later this evening, pre-dinner drinks (non-alcoholic) are served on the lawn or in the old courtyard. Count the stars as they come to join you one by one, twinkling in a sky unpolluted by city lights. Traditional Indian music and dancing fills the garden. The intoxicating scent of ‘Queen of the Night’ flowers is soon replaced by the alluring aroma of supper being served. Enjoy dinner with traditional Indian music and folk performances. Stay overnight in Bijaipur. (B,D)

Day 08: Chittorgarh – Kota (Driving Time: Approx 4 hours)

After breakfast travel to Kota, situated at the bank of the Chambal River and was established by Maharao Madho Singh around 1264. Kota is an amazing merge of the rich majestic medieval age and modern industrialisation. It is untouched wealth of impressive forts, opulent palaces and splendid temples dating back over several centuries retaining the past glory, with the present day edifices and heavy industries making it the industrial heartland of Rajasthan. The town of Kota was once the part of the erstwhile Rajput kingdom of Bundi but became a separate princely state in the 17th century when during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Jehangir, the ruler of Bundi – Rao Ratan Singh gave a smaller principality of Kota to his son, Madho Singh and since then, the city become a hallmark of the Rajput gallantry and culture. Afternoon visit City palace and Jagmandir Palace and stay for two nights in Kota. (B,D)

Day 09: Kota

Enjoy short excursion to Bundi, once a part of Kota came under the Chauhan rulers in the 12th century and was an important state at the peak of Rajput glory in medieval times but its association with the Mughals led to its decline. Termed as the 'Queen of Hadoti', the solitary and independent township of Bundi is like an enchanting fresco, frozen in stone through the ages. The seat of Rajput legacy this pristine town has an irresistible charm embodied in intricate carvings, and murals, amazing Raslila frescoes and centuries old baoris (step-wells). Enjoy guided tour of Taragarh Fort, Raniji-ki-Baoli, (Queen's step well) and Nagar Sagar Kund. All through Bundi runs a sense of past romance and braveness. (B,D)

Day 10: Kota – Jaipur (Driving Time: Approx 5 hours)

Post breakfast travel to Jaipur, en-rout stop at Bundi, an undiscovered splendour set in a narrow inclining gorge, and view an enchanting fresco frozen in stone through the ages. Stay two nights stay in Jaipur. (B,D)

Day 11: Jaipur

Enjoy guided excursion to the majestic Amber Fort, the old erstwhile capital of the Kachwahas Rajputs. This is the only fort where one can still climb from the foothill of the fortress till the top riding on the back of a painted elephant passing through the ancient main gate where Maharaja’s of Jaipur have entered for over four hundred years. Enthral yourself in the architectural masterpiece with its mirror-studded alcoves, dazzling mosaics and water-cooled swings. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles find its ultimate expression. Amber Fort is the classic and romantic fort palace with a magnificent aura. Visit the City Palace which still is the residence of royal family, possessing amazing antiques telling story of the era long gone by. Visit Royal Observatory and enjoy photo stop at Hawa Mahal before spending your day at leisure. Stay overnight in Jaipur. (B,D)

Day 12: Jaipur – Agra (Driving Time: Approx 5 hours)

After breakfast, travel to Agra, the most visited tourist city in India famous for its Taj Mahal, en-route taking a stop at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Legend has it that Akbar who had no son, went to a Sufi saint Sheikh Salim Chisti to seek his blessings and soon enough, prince Jehangir was born. As an expression of gratitude, Akbar built this new city between 1569 and 1585 and shifted his capital there. The city sits on a rocky ridge, with the village Sikri at its foot. However, 15 years after it was established, the city had to be abandoned due to an acute water shortage. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the finest examples of Mughal architectural splendour at its height and culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Enjoy guided tour of the beautiful Mughal structures. Remaining day is at leisure with an overnight stay in Agra. (B,D)

Day 13: Agra – Delhi (Driving Time: Approx 4 hours)

Pay a sunrise visit to the most endearing monument of love The Taj Mahal built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. A world-renowned wonder, the Taj Mahal is phenomenal not only in beauty alone that shines forth but in deep planning and design that went into its making and the ethereal idea of immortalizing love. Delicate cravings in white marble with gorgeous Pietra Dura, lapiz, lazuli, carnation, mother of pearl, agate and emerald are all engraved in flora and other geometrical patterns. Later visit, Agra Fort built by Emperor Akbar, the fort was built in red sandstone with a mixture of the Islamic and Hindu styles of architecture. Emperor Shah Jahan was imprisoned here by his son Aurangzeb when he took over the Mughal throne. The Emperor is said to have spent the last years of his life here, looking from the balcony of the Mussaman Burj, a tower at the Fort, towards the Taj Mahal, where his beloved consort Mumtaz Mahal was buried. In the afternoon we then travel back to Delhi and onwards to the airport to board your onwards flight.(B)
